Double winner of environmental journalism price
I am a very happy winner of the Brian Black Memorial Award 2024 for environmental journalism - for the second time. It's very inspiring indeed, and I will definitely continue fighting, and writing, for and about the fragile Arctic. And congratulations to Christopher Barrett for winning the film award for the movie Facing the Bear. The winning story about me living as sustainably as possible on my boat can be read in the latest issue of Yachting Monthly.
I wrote this when I got the happy news. I Was on my way south as skipper on Witness, Greenpeace sailing yacht, after a month on Svalbard.
- Right now I am in Tromsø and it’s scary warm here with over 20° in mid-September. It is just yet another example of how fast the climate is changing in the Arctic, and we all have to push the decision-makers to do something about it. Not just talk about the challenges, as they have been doing for the last 30 years, writes Jon Amtrup.
In 2022 I won the prize for The icy sound of climate change after yet another mind blowing sail to Svalbard
